As long as she has valid status (in her case a valid work permit), she can apply for an open work permit since you have received the AOR.

(it doesn't matter if her has a closed work permit or study permit or visitor status, PA can apply for OWP once the sponsorship application has received AOR)

We called them yesterday and they told us
“Officer is working on your background check” and soon you will hear from us and got that letter today .
Medical and biometric were completed already.

which number i should call them? I always talk to machine.

I was just doing some rough math and if the processing times in Quebec don't improve (right now est to be 27 months), my SOWP might expire before a decision is made on my file. Does anyone know if its possible to extend the OWP in that case? Not a super urgent issue for now, but just for some peace of mind...

So after waiting for months and without an AOR, today I got the biometric instruction letter.

Any Tipps for getting an appointment quickly near Ottawa?

Finally I know my UCI and application number, but the tracker on my IRCC account doesn't say much.

Any idea what all of this means where I stand in the application process?

I think something is wrong because, if you have completed biometrics, under Biometrics it should show Completed. Anyway I would suggest to contact IRCC regarding the same. They might help. If they don't then patience is the key.
