Hi everyone,

My partner and I are currently waiting for OWP approval/PR - we are September applicants. My partner's 6 month visitor status will expire on February 1st. It is my understanding that we need to apply to extend his stay as a decision has not yet been made on his OWP (should be mid-January based on other's timelines).

For anyone who has had to do this - Once you did apply to extend your visitor status, how long did it take to be approved?

It is also my understanding that once OWP is granted this allows him to stay and work Canada for the duration of the OWP? Or does he still need to apply to extend his visitor status?

Hello,

Your partner does not have to apply for an extension since she/he has applied for an OWP. This will give you implied status until you hear a decision from CIC.

I just sent it back to Venegrille. Does anyone know how long will it take for them to open my package once they've received it?

Today received letter asking for current lease agreement. Haven't heard anything for a while. Submitted, I think it's because we've moved provinces since filing. Any thoughts? Fingers crossed it's a sign that things are close...

Sched A & PCC sent: March 2017
OWP approved: April 2017
Med request: June 2017
Meds done and approved: July 2017

Nothing since then until today!

I’m August 11th and last Friday my status switched from your action is required to update,then I checked and my bgc had just started!

Mine case is weird! I checked my account 2 days ago (hadn't checked it for a while), the status switched from Your action is required to Updated. Tonight, I just checked my account again to see if there is st new, NO, the status changed back to Your action is required!!! My husband and I were happy just 2 days ago!!! Sh*t!

Oh la la, I just checked my status now, yes, there is one thing updated:
Background check ---> We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

This happened to me too, but on my owp application. For a brief moment I swear I saw the status changed to ‘Updated’ then went back to ‘Submitted’. 2 days later I received an email saying my OWP is approved. Per cic it was approved on the same day i saw the status changed. So I take that as a good sign for you perhaps something is moving along with your application

Hopefully hihi, thank you for your comment. Now I'm actually waiting for Med request. Lots of people here waited for it for 6 months. It is such a long time!

Did you include the copies of your passport and all the stamp in your passport, copy of permit and marriage certificate when you resend it?!

Did you include the open work permit with your PR application? If you did include it then you would be on implied status as long as the work permit application is not returned for being incomplete or insufficient payment.
