This isn't very likely. I think you should wait another week. This week it was up to May 16th ish with some from May 20...
They said my eligibility is in progress and background check has not even started yet. Whereas I have got my AIP, SA and pre arrival. I was hoping to get my P1 soon.

I wouldn't rely on anything IRCC agents say when you call them. They've been known to not answer correctly when you ask them.

Looking at you situation I'm suspecting I'll get Medical request as well. I did mine in 2019 and they passed it initially in the tracker and gc key but now it's been blank in GCkey for a month. Did you go through something similar?
Yes, mine also went blank in GCkey at a point and kept blank until I got the new request. I didn't worry about it at the time because I've seen other people with the same situation and their medical get extended because of the extension policy for in-land applicants. Although my previous medical was only more than a year old, it had some problems (not a smooth pass) and I think that may be the reason they say it's not extendable.

It really differs from one ircc officer to another... some will update the status as soon as they open your file. Others will update only when they finish processing.

Can you elaborate on this extension policy? Any links?

Still really doesn't make sense. The COPR date is based on the expiry of the medical exam. Does that mean the COPR is extended as well?
speaking from my own experience, they review your previous medical result and just put a new expire date for the new application
i check my previous application that used that IME in the first place, it's still showing the old expire date

Hey guys - just got the AOR recently and I was planning to apply for an Open Work permit for my spouse. However, she is on a study permit and currently studying in Canada. I am on PR though and tried to apply through her IRCC account but it doesn't let me apply an open work permit for a study permit holder and only lets me apply if the person is on a visitor visa or work permit. Is there anyone who can help in the process if you were in a similar situation and applied for a work permit for your spouse when they were on a study permit? Thanks in advance.

I mean the COPR expiry date says May 25th 2025 for us so..... Doesn't look like anything was extended.

that extend public policy is to exempt for those who had a previous medical exam, it doesn't apply to you then
in your case, you already have a COPR with expiry date, i believe they either need to request you to redo medical or extend the validity before COPR can be extended

So… that means that until eCOPR is issued, this is a legitimate problem?

yeah, I think they match the COPR expiry with the medical expiry date. Seeing COPR info does not mean that they issued eCOPR though. I can see that number for a month, but no eCOPR has been issued yet.
