Thanks I don't understand why some people receive it in a 7-10 days delay and others more than 3 weeks. I think when IRCC says in the letter they have mailed it, I think they mean they press the ok button for printing like a government cheque..
You are right ! Some people received it so fast. Sometimes, i have difficulty to understand how IRCC proceed.
Update : We got home at 4:30 pm today and the work permit letter was at the door ... so weird ... but we got it ! Maybe poste canada dropped it off at the neighbor's by mistake, I don't know! I am pretty sure you will received your’s soon

Our consultant recommended - You don't need to apply for Work Permit , etne time mei to aapka PR he aajyega!! (also my wife wasn't very eager to start working, so we thought we ll wait)

However , Its been 6 months now since we applied, what do you guys think , Should we apply for Work Permit or wait for Background Check ?

If PA eligibility is not complete yet go ahead and apply for a work permit as soon as possible. It says it takes 24 months but no one is sure if the processing time is a glitch or if it truly is.

Hey guys,

Applied for inland spousal sponsorship on July 17 2024 with sponsor being Canadian citizen.

Below is the timeline;

Applied - July 17, 2024
Biometrics - September 18, 2024 and submitted the same day and biometrics still showing as "In Progress"
Background verification - "In Progress" since September.
AoR -
Medical Exam - "Not Started"
Pre Arrival email - December 12, 2025
Eligibility completed for PA and Sponsor - December 16, 2024.

SOPW applied on July 17th 2024, and no answer till date. Sent a webform on January 06, 2025 and got a reply on January 14, 2025 saying "We verified the information you provided and have forwarded it to the responsible office" and NO answer as of today.

Is there anyone who has the same time line and is having to wait for the SOWP. I saw some people have gotten their SOWP approved within months and IRCC processing times currently is only about 120 days.

And now the processing times has gone up to 24 months, everything seems to in a limbo and unsure about what's next with IRCC!!

I think you should apply for a work permit since the wait times have gone up and there is no harm in getting one. It's always better to get on the safer side.

Your timeline is interesting. How did you apply for SOWP on the same day as PR? In order to be able to apply for SOWP you either need your AOR, or your status document has to be within 14 days of expiry. I was within 14 days of expiry when I applied for it and got my SOWP about 1 month later.

My apologies, I didn't mention. I was on a work permit when I applied for the SOWP and my work permit was expiring within the next 14 days.

did you try to call them yet?
i called them after 3 months but they say it's in progress and call them again if there is no update next month

I will try calling them tomorrow and see what they say.
and the processing time has now increased to 28 months for inland spousal, it's crazy.

I spoke to someone in the other forum. I'm on the same boat. No approval yet since I applied. Someone mentioned that I am ‘in maintained status’ until decision has been made. The consultant also said that there's no rhyme or rhythm to this, but there are cases in the previous cases that SOWP and PR come almost at the same time. In looking for a job, the consultant said, print the work visa application and AOR, and attached the IRCC maintained status page.

That is the same information I got at the time. As long as you applied for the SOWP with valid status and you got your AOR, you maintain your status and are allowed to keep working according to the conditions of you previous work permit until a decision is made.

I see, that explains everything. Is it still "in progress" on your GCKey account? Regardless, I would definitely follow up with them.

You can call IRCC and they will send you an email stating that you are on maintained status and can work awaiting a decision. Usually the email is valid for 180 days but if the decision is not made in 180 days, you can still continue to work until the application is processed.

just print that and give it to your employer and you can start working immediately. No need to provide AOR or any other documents to your employer, thought they might ask for the application number and proof of payment and all.

Hi All,
I have a question regarding OHIP for my spouse.
I’m a permanent resident and living in Ontario.
My spouses inland PR application is inprogress(received SA letter and Eligibility approval letter) and received OWP recently.
Can she get OHIP?
have a nice weekend
Thank you
P
