I agree with most of this but I would suggest wait till July at least. Since you already have a wp, you'll be on maintained status when you apply again in July for 6 months. And if you receive PR before a final decision is made on the WP, you can get the 155$ refunded.
i second this, and the fee is $255 ($155 application fee + $100 OWP fee)

I agree with you guys but i think risking $255 and not expecting it back is still worth it, cause we spend like thousands of dollars before becoming a PR, so why not another $255, since you can’t judge canadian immigration, here’s a scenario, what if they actually took longer than July to process the file in this case and OP applies for work permit in july, no doubt they will still be under legal implied status but what if in the mean time their medical services card expire along with their pgwp and they don’t get SOWP for 4 months and they need to visit emergency hospital in that mean time, you know how much that costs, I am just saying this cause i have been through it and just an emergency visit to hospital cost like $1200 + whatever doc fee is, i had high fever on Christmas eve, they quoted me $2000 this is just a small thing, lets say your driving licence or something else is expiring you know they won’t let you renew without an actual valid WP, i know it’s very rare situation but what if, and i think risking all that for $255 is not worth it

How long is the background check for the SOWP? I applied in July and never heard from them. I just noticed the changes the other day. I have received and forwarded the AOR, SA, and AIP via web form at least a couple of times.

Assuming OP is in Ontario; it Doesn’t matter. You can get an OHIP with AIP. . Better still they can get OHIP one year extension from the OHIP they got on PGWP before that expires with the AIP they get from PR application then after renew their OWP to get maintained status.

It can take a couple of months, in my case, it was marked In Progress for a while, but then my SOWP was approved, so there was no in between (Background check complete vs Final decision). Everything was marked Completed at the same time. But you can call IRCC and they will tell you where they are at with your Background check (security, criminality…). We applied on Aug. 23 for SOWP and received it on Dec. 31. Did they send you for Biometrics?

Yep, all done. Biometric was done in Sept. and medical in June before we lodged the application for PR. Medical says passed in our PR application since Aug. 21.

yes, background check in progress according to the tracker.

I got AIP & SA Dec 16

In my case, background check took the longest (6 months) while Biometrics, Eligibility and Medical were done within 1 and a half month after applying...

I would guess only a few months left for you, but can't say for sure. Hopefully you hear good news soon!

Hi, no he hasn't received it yet! He called IRCC yesterday and was told it would take 5 weeks in total so 2 more weeks to wait.
Thanks I don't understand why some people receive it in a 7-10 days delay and others more than 3 weeks. I think when IRCC says in the letter they have mailed it, I think they mean they press the ok button for printing like a government cheque..
