@makeithappen2015, do you mind asking your hubby for the number he used to call. Just want to have it so long, incase by nexr week we don't hear anything
Thanx
I heard that CIC is saying that in order to process 25,000 Syrian refugees before the end of the year all other immigration paperwork is being put on hold. Farmers are not able to get new foreign workers or even renewals of work visas for workers that are already here. Has anyone else heard anything about this or have an idea how much of an affect this will have on family sponsorship?
I want to sponsor my US hubby to Canada. I was going to sponsor him as an inland applicant, to take advantage of the open work permit. However, I was told by the inland group that it only takes 6-9 months to get his PR card because it goes to Ottawa visa office. However when I go in the website it says 30 months for the US/New york office and 17 months for the Ottawa office That would make it around 20 months out of the Ottawa office and 33 months if he goes to New York. Can someone please clarify. Thanks

US applicants are processed in Ottawa, not New York. Applications may be transferred to LA if they are red flags or issues with your application.
There is an Ottawa thread here which will give you a more realistic timeline of approval. US applicants should get PR within a year though, closer to 6 if you do not have any red flags.
I know the 17 months listed on CIC website for Manila means 80% of cases are done in less than 17 months. My wife just told me that a work friend got her visa after it had been at Canadian embassy in Manila for only one month. Could it actually go that fast? It would be a great Christmas present to have visa for my wife before the end of the year. 8)
I asked my wife for more details about her co-worker. Turns out there
was a misunderstanding. The few weeks was only a portion of the process
(expected to take a few months) NOT the entire process (in Manila).

But one thing, my app was sent to accra VO. Why?? I live in cambodia and we both expecting it to be sent to Singapore.. Any ideas why Accra?? What should i do ? should i write an email to cic to change it or just leave it??
No letter or email yet from them. Though my ecas both says IN PROCESS. Wonder whats taking so long . And what does IP mean mean on both Sponsorship Approval Status and Permanent Resident Status mean? Can only access ecas via receipt number
my application was received on September 1, I can check the status by using my UCI number. However, I still haven't get any notice yet. Is there any problem there?
These are the message I got from online service:
1.We received your application to sponsor on September 1, 2015.
2.We started processing your application on October 16, 2015.
I tried to call CIC today, but they are so busy, I even can't get into line.
I just wanted to update you that I received SA yesterday (Oct 30). I received an email me that my application was being sent to the Ottawa visa office.
My application was received by CIC on Sept 1 and I received AOR on Oct 16th.
I mailed my application on september 1 as well. But I still didn't here anything back about my first stage. I am kinda nervous about it.
Btw, I didn't received any AOR as well. But I can log in to check my status now.
will they inform us if my first stage doesn't get approved?
