No update. I am not expecting anything before the 128 days mark. What i have noticed, if the PA was/is in PGWP or study permit, they get it within a month and if the PA has OHIP/UHIP already, they get SA/AIP within a couple of months. So this is just an IRCC game to make us anxiously serve our wait time.

I was on pgwp (expired July2024) and I'm on visitor record to maintain status and then i applied for spousal sponsorship. I'm not sure what to expect in my case

it is 138 days now.. every week i see the days increasing. I assume that PR might be sooner than work permit. Also i noticed that outland visa is much faster.

You are correct. I waited months to get her TRV to apply inland, looks like I actually lost time as there wont be any work permit any soon and for PR, I have no idea when the Lord IRCC officer will approve. Only good thing is at least we are together in Canada

TRV is valid for 6 months stay at a time. But we dont need to apply for an extension if we have applied for the SOWP. Until the work permit is finalized, PA can stay in Canada with a "maintained" status.
Currently, I’m on the student visa and my study about to complete in the Dec-24. I have study permit till sep-25 as initially selected two years program after that change to one year program.
In the January-25 going to india for family reasons and coming back in the March-25. Apart from that , my pr inland spousal sponsorship in the process.
So, I want to know, can I travel to India without any issue and return back in the march with study permit visa ? Or I can apply for the Spouse open work permit for the safer side?

Although its not recommended to travel while inland application is in progress, there is no restrictions to travel. As you have a valid study permit; you shouldn’t have any problem re entering. However, if for some reason, they deny your re entry, your pr application will be canceled. This is highly unlikely but not impossible. So, no-one can advise you with assurance. Better not take the risk

Since you will finish your study in Dec and isn't registered for another program/course to come back. Your study permit is not really valid (your school is supposed to report that you finished your program) till Sept 2025. Also as another member pointed out already, you are required to live with your spouse inside Canada if you applied inland.
If you are leaving for a 3 months trip, you are not really considered living with your spouse inside. Do you have a valid TRV?
If you have received AOR of your spousal sponsorship application, you can apply for OWP. In that case, if you get the OWP approval before you leave for India, your chance of coming back and allow entry is higher. (assuming that you have valid TRV to travel back)
So, my suggestion so to apply for OWP if you get AOR and consider shorten your trip to a few weeks instead of months. Make sure you have valid TRV to return.

@sam001 - i am wondering if our work permit and PR application will be processed with the timeline which was present when we applied or current timeline? I presume when we applied for work permit in August, the timeline was 92 days and 148 now. What is your view on this?
