Agreed, it seems AOR2 didn't use to be a thing from what I've read. This may highlight the reason why nobody can agree on what actually constitutes AOR2.
Some people receive the initial 'we've transferred your application to xxxxxx visa office' and then don't get an email showing it's been received, whilst others do not get any emails until their local VO confirms they have it.
AOR2 has been around for a couple years at least. When I went through this AOR2 signalled that the VO has opened the application and was working on it.
Still waiting to receive AOR. My husband (PA) is from the United States and I (Sponsor) am from Canada.
Application Received: December 17th, 2018
However, I do want to bring up something that happened that was completely unexpected and terrifying. Basically, back in the summer we were waiting on approval of a Visitor Extension for my husband, as he has been in Canada since December 2017 and we had to extend his Visitor Status. We had just gotten married in Ontario and we were waiting for our marriage license to be processed, which takes 12 weeks. At the time that we sent the application, we only had our Solemnization of Marriage (not a legal record of our marriage technically.) So, to prove our intention to have more time together as a married couple and time to apply for PR in person together, we paid for the first half of the PR Sponsorship app and put the receipt along with the Visitor Extension receipt in the application... We included an explanation as to why we included it too.
Now, fast forward to the end of January. I see a refund of $550 (the first half of the Sponsorship app) in my bank account. Our PR app was already received and in Nova Scotia (by received I mean tracking confirmation that someone signed for it), which means our receipt in our application is no longer valid since it got refunded. We pay again the day we find out, send it through the webform + an explanation as to what happened. I called the customer service line and made sure to get a note on our file that links the new receipt number and explains what happened. I also received the email where it says that our webform was received and directed to the correct office.
It sucks because we didn't know that this would happen and I really hope that our application isn't delayed because of this. I don't really know what happened. I guess they automatically process any receipt in an application, and the office that processed it was all the way in Alberta, so a different province and office from the one that actually deals with PR applications. Lesson Learned: Do not put any other application receipt (that has not been processed) in an unrelated application.
Wishing for the best and hoping we hear something soon. I hope our application is not returned to us because of this. They have the new receipt, it`s just not a physical one in the application. Unless they print it out.

Yes, if you've used the webform and have put your application number in then you'll be good to go. I've just had confirmation from them that they've received a scan of my new passport and they've forwarded it to the responsible officer. Took 6 days for them to reply
AOR Jan 31 - still can't link account
Hi all, first time posting here.... we submitted our application Dec 3, received the AOR email on Jan 31st, and I still can't link our account to the paper application. I've tried every combination I can think of. The application also can't be found in the online "check application status" tool and it's making me nervous.
Anyone having the same experience, or can offer advice?
Number of people on your application is Sponsor + Applicant + Any dependants regardless if they're accompanying you or not.
The place of birth section can cause issues as the officers have been known to put strange formats, such as Town & State.
From the guide, some people have had success with adding a space to the place of birth.
If you still have difficulties linking you could always contact CIC on the webform under the technical difficulties section to see if they can help to get you in.
Today I've got confirmation, that payment for biometrics was received.
I uploaded it via IRCC Web form. It took 5 business days, including submission day.
Btw, when I did a mistake in applicat data while submitting receipt, I got an answer next day that information provided differs from the one they have on file
@JoshC , @schweisy@kcward7 , thank you very much for your replies and information provided.
Only time will tell us what is going
Now I need a mail from IRCC to include it to package for Quebec..... and also biometrics, and MR, and PPR..
I would like to know when you review submitted application what you do you see. could someone tell me if they see anything regarding the process of the application. like any document needed or anything else like that. I am asking this question as when I linked my account to the application I see we are viewing you eligibility and if there is something we need we will tell you later. something like that. Does anyone has the same thing.

Interesting, so if you've not got a GCKEY account they'll just email you directly? I was wondering as the email I got just directed me to review the biometrics request in GCKEY.
