Received my passport yesterday, first time passport application, mailed to Gatineau from Vancouver. Turnaround time was 1 month from when the passport office received my application. Got the citizenship certification with my passport.
Timeline:
Mailed (via Xpresspost) application to Gatineau: Sept 22
Application received at Gatineau: Sept 27
CC charged: Oct 4
Passport received: Oct 28
Passport was issued on Oct 20 as per the date on the passport.
Hi all, I want to know if canadapost leaves the passport package in the mailbox or do they get signature and see ID also? Someone told me that they will always leave the notification and you have to go pick up from the canadapost office.
Btw, my application delivered on 24th Oct and cc charged on 28th.

Yes, they leave a delivery notice in our mailbox if you're not around, and then you pick it up with signature and ID at the post office.
I submitted my passport application on the 17th of October, received on the 18th October, CC charge on 22nd of October. I received my certificate on the 27th October. Awaiting my passport.
Good morning! My second last update because of this short but important call
Your passport is now under production. It will be available in 2 weeks. Thank you.
from someone who I'll name as M, possibly the same guy who hung up back on Oct 11. In 2 weeks, that's before Nov 17 when I would have called for confirmation of travel plan and yada yada before my trip. Assume it's mid-Nov, it will have taken almost 7 months for my application to conclude. Obviously, the MP office helped with my case. If I had not asked for their intervention, I could have waited for 2 more weeks which aren't a lot compared to some 29 weeks until mid Nov.
Do we guys have a forum for people applying at Service Canada centre ?

Yes there’s a “in person passport applications” thread……just search for it
Is it possible to apply for in person passport application without citizenship certificate?
So it is an average of 4-6 weeks to apply and receive the new passport?
I applied to renew my child's passport in mid-June through a Service Canada Centre. I was told that it would take 3 months. Today I called 1-800-567-6868 and was told the application was approved. However, it has just gone for printing. Printing would take 3 weeks and another week for mailing. So, at least another month to go.
Over 5 months to renew a passport - ridiculous. It takes 1 - 2 months back home.
I received my child's passport through CanadaPost Xpresspost. Here is the timeline:
Type: Child Passport - Renewal (Regular)
Application Date: 14-Jun-2022 (via Service Canada)
Expected Mail-out Date: 11-Aug-2022
1st Call to Call Centre: 17-Oct-2022
(was told that the app was approved, but it went for printing. Will take another 3 weeks for printing and 1 week for mail delivery)
2nd Call to Call Centre: 18-Oct-2022
(was told that I would receive the passport on 4-Nov-2022 the latest)
Passport Issue Date: 16-Oct-2022
Passport Dispatch Date: 25-Oct-2022 (from Mississauga)
CanadaPost Delivery Date: 26-Oct-2022
(since it requires ID check, I had to go to the postal office to pick it up)

If it is your first time applying for a passport and not a renewal then No
I received my child's passport through CanadaPost Xpresspost. Here is the timeline:
Canada Post probably has a new practice of... asking people for ID and at the post office. At least I think it is the case in my area. In the past maybe people just showed up at their door.

Passport delivered 30 October . No travel date nothing.
Hi all,
Quick update - husband’s passport just got delievered. Issue date was Sept 9th!
Hello all,
Sharing my husband and my timeline + updates so far:
Applications mailed out: Aug 24th
Cc charged: Sept 7th (Surrey) & Sept 1st (Gatineau)
Citizenship certificate received: Sept 14th - only for my husband
We applied for regular processing with upcoming travel dates in November. Fingers crossed and best of luck to all!
Update:
Requested for transfer for my passport by calling toll free number on October 14th as travel date was less than 20 business days away. Got a call today from local office to pick up passport on Nov 9th.

CP perhaps required someone to sign off. Since we've a community mail box (which I absolutely hate after I moved), they will never be able to take signature. So, they leave a note to pick up from the nearest CP location.
I forgot to add before that I did not receive my child's old passport. When Service Canada retained the old passport, I explicitly said that I would need it back. Not sure what to do now. I need the old passport for visa purpose.
