Hello all,

Sharing my husband and my timeline + updates so far:

Applications mailed out: Aug 24th
Cc charged: Sept 7th (Surrey) & Sept 1st (Gatineau)
Citizenship certificate received: Sept 14th - only for my husband

We applied for regular processing with upcoming travel dates in November. Fingers crossed and best of luck to all!

How do you contact your MP, just send an email to MP with all the proof of travel etc?
I submitted my application in person on July 15th (Calgary), and traveling now in November, I feel I should start the process of contacting MP in order to save anxiety attack at the end.

Did you get the passport?

Applied by mail (myself + 2 kids, all new apps) in June with no travel date. Called to add travel info in August for Oct travel. I got mine 2 weeks later but kids were still being processed.

I waited until I was within 20 days of travel to transfer the files to my local office, and was told both apps were transferred but I only received a confirmation email for 1. Called back a few days later and they said they would resend the confirmation for the 2nd, but I still didn’t get it. Travel is in 8 business days and no call from the local office yet.

Should I go in person to verify they have both applications, or will that be a waste of time? I’d hate to get a call to pick up the day before and have it only be 1 of 2 passports…

I called in to enquire the status of my application, it seems they dispatched it in July, but it was returned back to them (did not get any delivery slip to collect it from local post office). Has anyone been into a similar situation? What is the process to obtain the PP? Tried calling them again, I was told that it would be mailed again, but do not have a firm timeline. It seems the returned PP is not entered in their system yet. Very much tensed and confused, anyone having similar experiences, kindly share

Does anyone know if you can have a passport mailed to an address in the US if you apply for it at the office WITHIN Canada?

Update: went in person to check and good thing I did! There was an issue with one set of photos and no one called me. I got new photos that night and brought them in today. Now I have a pick up date 3 days before travel. Relieved!

I went late afternoon both times and walked right in, no line, despite their 2pm estimate saying a 2 hour wait.

You went in person just to check the status of your application? Why didn't you call them?

Because the only response I could ever get on the phone was: “it’s being processed”.

I was told the transfer request went through on the phone but it had not, in fact, due to the photo issue. I was suspicious because I could only get a confirmation number for 1 of 2, indicating something was wrong.

Even after supplying new photos, they were about to send them back (not process locally) and mail it, until I asked for a date and was told it would be mailed to me after my travel date. Then I had to request a local transfer again. Everyone was very helpful and it was easy to do, but nearly slipped through the cracks a few different ways.

First find out who is your MP for your local area, you can use the link below, then just give them a quick call and explain your situation, they should be able to tell you whether they can help you or not and if they can, then they will explain the process:

I am updating my timeline. Briefly, it is:
Application sent, Apr 22.
2nd call, Aug 15: I clarified my application. The officer, now that I learned, did NOT actually take note and put it on my file. I was in the dark, and I waited for 20 business days aka 1 month.
3rd call, Sep 1: This officer saw no issue. Sure, because the previous officer didn't do anything!
4th call, Sep 15: This officer asked me for the same clarifications from Aug 15. Now he knows his colleague didn't do anything, and put things on my file during the call. He's telling me to wait for another month.

I'll expect it in Oct instead of today, one month from now. I'll probably call again to see if anything is missing. Sep 19, Sep 30, and Oct 10 are all holidays, btw.

Who among you from April are still waiting?

Yes, you can have it mailed to your home or any address in the US. You will have to pay the higher fee for mailing it to the US though.
