Another family member of mine applied for renewal on Jan 10th with service canada with 20 days service received the passport on Jan 22nd.

Dont know why its so fast, I mean I did not apply it in person but mailed it instead, and was expecting 20 business days to process it, but they got it done in just 2 weeks.
Last time I applied this in person for my dad they took longer than this (more than 4 weeks)

Applied In - Person at Mississauga on 27th January. No appointments for this location as this location is extremely busy. Due to work commitments, could not go early in the Morning. Walked in leisurely at 11 AM and as expected, was welcomed by a very long queue. The overall process including the wait time took 3.5 hours, but the people in the queue were pretty friendly, so was easy to pass the time. Opted for physical pick-up to collect the passport which was on 10th of February..exactly 2 weeks from the date of application.
