Hello everyone,
I have crossed my 12 months mark for my application. After waiting few weeks after one year, I got in touch with MP office and Unfortunately they were no help. They basically told me same thing what I was told by agent over the phone saying that my security check is pending and no timeline is given for it . I have ordered my gcms notes as well and waiting for it .
Anyone else has any advise for it, what to do ? The wait is frustrating .

I know there are some of us who are waiting just like me so, any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone know if there is anything we can do if we wait 18 months (or longer) and still get no updates pending background check? Is 18 months the longest wait you have heard of? I wonder if there are people who waited even longer and still receive no news of their applications. I am Feb 14, 2018 applicant and am also waiting for background check to be completed.

For me it's almost 13 months. This is really long time. My background check is done. But i have not received aip or sa. They are still checking my spouse's eligibility. Its almost 6 weeks since they started. Now i do not know at which stage i am right now? Really tired and frustrated.

Did they update your profile to show that your background check has been done or were you told that over the phone? I received AIP and DM on my sponsor side in early December but no DM on my end. And it still says background check in progress on my profile both on ECAS and GCKey. Agent on the phone also said my background check is still pending but could give no additional information. Yes, very frustrating indeed!

It's not super common but definitely happened before.

Things that can significantly delay the background and security checks are (among other things):

Military service in your home country; being from a country that is deemed higher risk by Canadian authorities; simple (and unfortunate) things like having a name or date of birth that is similar to someone who is on a list of people Canada (or countries that share intelligence with Canada) has deemed high security risks.

I am waiting for decision in relation to my inland spousal sponsorship. I intend to visit US with my wife in April. I have my work permit and my Canadian visa with me. Do I need to make any application to be able to re enter?

Hi there,

Finally friday I recieved an email that I will be called for an appointment.

Is it something common? What they are going to ask? And what's the next step?

I worried :)

Is it your landing interview? If so: congrats, you're done!

They apparently just ask you whether you are a criminal and whether you and your sponsor are still married/common-law.

They also make sure all the information on the landing document they give you is correct. Takes just 10 minutes or so.
