Hello everyone,
I am a newbie in this forum. Applied for spouse sponsorship, the application was received at Sydney NS office on July 13th, 2018. Need some information from seniors like what will happen next? and how much time it will take to get the sponsorship process done? I am Permanent resident, not the citizen.
Doesn't matter if you're a citizen or PR. First you'll get an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AoR), which is an email with your application number so you can link your application online for future correspondence and tracking your status. If you've applied for an Open Work Permit (OWP), that takes about 4 months from when you send your docs. About 6 months after you submit, you'll get a request to do a medical examination. The rest of the process happens at different times for different people, but it mostly happens around 11-12 months after you apply. You'll probably get an approval for the sponsor, which means you meet the requirements for sponsoring your spouse. When the PA passes the eligibility too, they'll get an Approved in Principal, which means you meet the requirements but you have to wait for background checks and so on to go through, and finally there's a landing interview.
I suggest reading the posts on this forum cuz there's already a ton of information that will probably help you with more details.
yeah I did read its not that easy as it should be... i just got frustrated and gave up... maybe i should give it a try again
but i also had always problems with the GCKEY login, while try to login it kicks me several times out back to the side where you choose the language
who btw should link the application? the sponsor or the applicant? my husband (the sponsor) tried it then with the sign-in partner and not with GCKEY...
I had same issue with GCKEY login. It use to log me out several times before i could login. I just Signed up for new GCKEY. Its better to create new one for the Applicant. Signup for new GCKEY and then try linking. I hope it helps. Good luck!
Cool! It said "Innovation Hub Vancouver" at the bottom left of the paper that said "It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements..." ?
If so I'm guessing it means your application was transferred to Vancouver like mine. If so that gives me some hope that I'll hear something soon, since it seemed like all of the applications kept in Mississauga were processing faster (even October ones)!
Hi there !! How are you ?
I was wondering something, when you got your AIP, the paper that says "It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements..." do you also have in the section "when do I contact IRCC" the sentence "if you have a child you have to specify if yes Or no he/she has to be added to the application. If this child is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident etc etc" ?
Because I have this sentence on my paper and it seems to be highlighted so I don't know if they're waiting for this or if I just have to wait.
I had same issue with GCKEY login. It use to log me out several times before i could login. I just Signed up for new GCKEY. Its better to create new one for the Applicant. Signup for new GCKEY and then try linking. I hope it helps. Good luck!

Hi guys!
My application for spousal PR plus work permit was received July 3rd by CIC. No AOR as of yet - I’m the sponsor so likely the email will be sent to me.
Anyone who’s application sent around the same time receive their AOR yet?
Thanks! This is the second time we’ve sent it in now due to a missing document so any more wasted time would really hurt
My wife and I got a job, purchased a car and insurance, changed bank accounts, and I’m on my wife’s private insurance policy also. Do I need to update cic?
