Traveling with old passport and valid study permit?

I recently renewed my passport. My old passport (expiring in May 2020) was used to apply for my current study permit. My study permit will expire before my study program unless I apply for a study permit extension, so I renewed my passport recently and I am planning to apply for the extension soon.

Next week, I am leaving Canada to visit my home country for 5 days and when I come back to Canada, will it be okay for me to show the customs officer my old passport, my new passport, and my current study permit that is based on my old passport? I am afraid I will not have time to apply for my study permit extension by the time I leave for the visit.

I think you can renew your passport by staying in Canada, just find indian embassy and start your process of renewal

It is fine, as long as trv & study permit is still valid you can carry two passports.
