I had applied for a student visa from Pakistan Islamabad Office in the year 2011. My student visa was rejected in early 2012, however, I am not able to locate any official corresponding specifying the reason for visa rejection.
I am now applying for PR and need to mention the details about my earlier rejection. I only have the file number with me. Can anyone help me identify how can I find the reason why my student visa was rejected?

Don't worry! You atleast have the file number so just get CAIPS report. All the A-Z info is there. Every info you send to CIC is record in this. If you are applying for PR then make sure you match everything that you have said to CIC during your study permit time. VISA officer will be suspicious if there is variation in info.
Also, when you order caips try to also order the photocopies of the docs that you submitted last time. It's like a special service from CIC and you can get this from caipsgcms.com
