I have paid my Right of landing fee and am waiting for my passport and landing documents from Detroit.
I am on a work permit at the moment. I have applied for renewal but without LMO ( as I was on my PGWP) so there is no way it will be renewed. I am expecting to receive a letter from CIC to stop working soon. My question is after I receive my passport and landing documents from Detroit can I cross the Canada border and land the same day ??? Can I apply for SIN card using the landing documents so that I can keep my job as my company cannot wait for long time and might get a replacement.
I am in a very serious situation. All suggestions and help is greatly appreciated.
You can use your passport and record of landing to get a SIN from Service Canada. They will issue your SIN on a piece of paper and mail your card to you.
It's theoretically possible to do on one day. Whether that's practical (The Service Canada locations here close at 4/4:30) is another story.
Yes you can land the same day, I was already in Canada for 6 years so I just went to the rainbow bridge in Niagara falls. So had to exit Canada by walking on the bridge till I reached the US and got the entry denial form from them and came back and submitted with my PRR at the Canadian officer in Canada it literally took be 20 min for the whole thing.
When I got back to Toronto I just went to service Canada and showed my PR confirmation and for my SIN changed to a 5 number and went and applied for health card
