I have a Canadian PR which is going to expire by December 2018. I am in India right now and I am travelling to Toronto to just renew my PR before it could expire.
While filling PR Renewal form, can I give my local friend's address since I don't have my own accomodation now in Canada?
PR status doesn't expire but your card does. Have you met the RO? Most times you are asked to pick up your new PR card in person. You may also be asked t provide more information to prove when you in Canada.
Can you please explain this in detail? About RO and it's role with respect to PR Renewal?
What are the documents they might ask to prove that I am in Canada. Thanks.
How many days have you spent in Canada in the past 5 years? You will need to prove you have at least 730 days in Canada in the last 5 years to renew your PR card or they will reject the application and start the process of revoking your Permenent resident status.
Spent around 21 months in Canada. For not spending the statutory 2 years criteria, I have Humanitarian reason with medical proofs.
Also for PR Renewal, I need to visit Canada in person or can I send PR Renewal Application along with supporting documents and medical proofs through post from my country of origin. Please clarify
Renewals can only be done from in Canada (and that doesn’t mean having your second cousin send it in for you). And IRCC decides if your medical reasons are acceptable. If you don’t plan on returning and staying in Canada, why renew since you are assessed in RO at every entry? Simply apply for a PRTD when you plan to return permanently. You might get a free pass the first time, but probably not if it’s called into question a second or third time.

Also, PR card delivery is in Canada only, or you may also have to collect it in person from an IRCC office in Canada. If all of your residence days are towards the beginning of the 5 year period, for every day that passes, your non-compliance will be greater, as days drop out of the 1825 day period.

Due to personal reasons, I am planning to go back to Canada only in October 2019. When I apply for a PRTD at that time, my PR Card would have already expired.(As I mentioned in my earlier posting my PR Card's validity is expiring this December 2018 itself).
In this case also, will they give me a free pass during my planned entry in October 2019?
That time I am planning to settle in Canada.
So after that I can apply for renewal of my PR only in October 2021 after satisfying 2 year statutory stay in Canada? Please clarify.
