I think for IELTS General Test - If your overall band is between 7.5 and 9.0 (where 9.0 is max)...i think then you get all 3 points (2+1) for english proficiency...i am checking to see what points allocation would be for less than overall band score of 7.5...i'll let you know as soon as i find out..
Thanks Nikusa..I have 7 band score...previously 6 points was allocated for English now only 3...

I couldnt understand how they are calculating points for English ,hw much is the maximum points given for IELTS?
i think its like this, for example my ielts results are as follows, speaking 7.5, reading 7.5, listening 7 and writing 6. under the old rules only speaking and listening were considered and my points were speaking 7.5 3 points, listening 7 2 points. under the new rules, for speaking i get 2 points for listening i get 1 points, now the reading and writing that hitherto had no points, now have points if u score anything from 4.5 , so for those i get 1 point each under the new rules. so for me i still retained my 5 points for english language.

@ Jenalby...:...Did you submit and get your AOR before July 31st?...Also is your file considered "in processing"...because if it is...i should think the old rules apply to you....but i am not sure what the situation is if you submit your IELTS results after august 1st! Also, did you send your scores before July 31st?
CORRECTION: -> my bad ..i just saw your application status profile Jenalby....if you submitted your IELTS score with your application then ya...i think...i think the old rules still apply and you get to keep your points...in your case, i'd forget the new rules

you should be and you deserve to be.
as for me i still maintain my conservative 62 points, i hope they allot my wife AOT point, her degree is B.sc Economics and statistics. i dont know what the rule is on double major degrees, i know economics fetches 0, but statistics fetches a 2 point, if that is awarded we get 64 points and might get CSQ. hoping for the best.

By the way I have checked the new version of op manual, it is still only points 12 and 16 which are priority (page 18).
no I think the statements are crossed out indicating its no longer valid. no priorities all equal.

Thank you +1
I wanted to share my experience with my file, I received my AOR in June. I am pretty sure they are going to apply new rule on my application. The reason for my belief is, they changed the Primary applicant in my case to my spouse who holds a Computer Engineering Degree, and the reason they told was, she will garner more points if made primary applicant. Hence, I think they have already decided on the priority with regards to occupation well before it is announced. And those who received AOR recently will be applied with new rules
