I started a new topic as I'm trying to get some insight into how long does it take for Outland Common Law Partner Sponsorship applicants to get an initial response from CIC?
My partner who is applying as my sponsor (Canadian citizen) and I (Polish) sent our application on February 10th. Since then, we have been keeping our eyes peeled for an email notification, but nothing so far.
Could someone who recently applied under the same category advise us on how long did it take until they received the initial response from CIC?
hi, it is unusual to not get an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR) or Sponsor approval (SA) by this point. The time frame for these notifications is the same regardless of whether the application is commonlaw or spousal. These notifications would go to the email address the SPONSOR lists in the application. Double check all folders, including junk, spam - and if you have GMAIL - check the social tab.
If still nothing has been found, i would recommend calling the call centre to see if they have any insight into your application. If that doesn't work, then have the sponsor contact their canadian MP (member of parliament) to get involved.
As I mentioned, we're living outside of Canada at the moment. We tried calling the CIC call center, but it only gives out information to inland applicants. It sent us back to the website where we filled out a form outlining our situation and requesting an update in regards to our application.
Perhaps we are unware of a number for outland applications? We used the Ottawa office number: 613-944-4000
How do we go about contacting a MP? My partner, the sponsor, is from Gormley, Ontario.
My partner's mother lives in Canada and she previously contacted CIC for us about a general enquiry before we applied. However, she's not listed as our representative and I was wondering whether she could still call and enquire information on our behalf?
