OCI process

A question to all you folks who applied in person:
Do you have to pay for the return of Docs (and originals), after OCI is issued, for them to send everything back to you?
Or is there any option of picking up the papers?

As far as I know originals are not to be sent with the OCI application - all I sent was self attested photocopies.

yep - I uploaded and attached employment confirmation letter and I can tell you I got my OCI
If you are self employed - you could create a letter with header as your corporation name

I called yesterday(12-Feb-2022) to BLS call center and person on phone told me this letter is no mandatory...

Not sure if they changed something now.

When i spoke to the BLA call center, they asked for send Indian Cancelled Passport and Canadian passport original.

I am from Montreal and latest in person appointments are available on April 13th.. Planning to do via courier for self and spouse(C$ 160)

Initial Docs(1 courier for both)
Return of originals by BLS(1 courier for both)
Final OCI Booklets(2 Separate).

Have you filled the online form on OCI website? Its a mandatory document to upload probably depending on profession you choose. It was for me and my spouse. BLS does not have any jurisdiction or opinion on what documents are uploaded to the website. I added a copy to my courier package just in case.

That is strange- I applied by courier in Brampton, a few of my friends too and some of them did in person. None of us sent or submitted any originals including Canadian passport not even surrender certificate. Everything was a self attested copy.
But yah everytime I have called BLS, every person on the other side of the phone has a different answer to the same question.

Nothing , it still shows as UNDER PROCESS ON OCI website. When contacted sampark Enquiry they replied as below -
"its due on 14 Feb 2022. please check again on 14 Feb

When applying for surrender and entry visa together, how many photographs do we need? Is it a good idea to get photographs done beforehand or should we use BLS photo service?

Processing time seems to be same for tourist visa and entry visa according to BLS site. Someone who visited in person recently, can you please confirm it?

Finally the OCI reached Ottawa. Hoping to get it delivered next week.

Hi, we have the same timelines. I am hoping to get my OCI sometime this week so that I can travel to India next week. Do you have any idea how long do they usually take from here ?
