Yes, the mass update is concerning... but since they go on strike, maybe they decided to send everything to the CSIS... to keep them busy in the meantime

I was also excited when I saw the update on my tracker not knowing it might be a system glitch. My last update before today was March 20

Same here. I got really excited but then realize it might be mass update.. but on ghost update thread some people said they do nit have an update today April 19th.

For statistical purposes: did "background check" started for you? (you don't mention that in the timeline)

Yes it did. I know how everyone is saying it's a system wide error but for us it aligns because we got pre-arrival a few days before the tracker updated. Edit: Our eligibility also changed to complete and medical "in progress".

Yeah.. that's what I'm trying to understand. If it aligns with the timeline of those who report it, then it's more likely to be a "fix" which allowed to update it to the correct status rather than a glitch. So the hypothesis is that it actually started before, but didn't update the tracker and the fix allowed it to be updated in tracker, that's why many but not all had it "started" at the same time. So I hope.

Like many others, we received the update on April 19th that Background Check is in progress. I am choosing to believe that it was already in progress, and that the big update gap in between March 20 and April 19 ended up with a lot of updated profiles.

Just another observation: tonight GCKey background check (BGC) changed to "Not Applicable".
Interesting that this was often discussed in PNP and Express Entry program forums but not much in Family Class. Probably means nothing except that "something is being done". Or it's related to the system maintenance that was scheduled tonight.
