It's been 4 months since my file

I also feel same like I replied above waiting game is only started , chances are in 2-3 months she will be here.

I agree but don't lose patience. We cannot do nothing but WAIT and WAIT. You are only few months in this waiting game yet rt? They say DO not talk to us unless it is over 1 year since you applied.

They have already rejected my application and visitor visa as well... and finally accepted the file in may! Lol
Still they processed it quite fast but NDVO seems to be in completely different trip!

I think he is referring to a Visitor's Visa rejection..

Not true. To put it correctly: "if you are unlucky, it may take up to 12 months which is the maximum time limit to process the application".

Today I checked ECAS and it shows “We started processing your application on August 31, 2018.”

Is 31st August AOR2? Or I should expect another email for that?

It is V good sign that your background has started. No need to do anything just keep checking

I don’t know. I live in the US now. So I’m guessing part of the BGC was done in Mississauga before it was sent to NDVO. I asked people in this forum but no one replied :-(

similar scenario with me.. I didn't get any transfer email nor my background check is showing as started. Spouse is in India and I am in Canada. Have no clue what's going on. App received: 24th April 2018. Any particular reason that I didn't receive the transfer email yet? any thoughts or advise to my situation?

My file has been rejected once before they accepted it finally in May ... also i applied for a visitor visa which was later rejected in june!

Hi Twish, we have similar timelines. I really have no idea what's going on. Sometimes it feels like they might have started partial processing right here in Canada to offload NDVO due to straight forward case and when almost everything will be done, they will just update altogether and transfer for final passport request. I am just trying to be hopeful, sometimes they do not update everything on gckey or ecas based on some forum members experience. Did you get background check started on gckey? May be some senior members can shed light or someone who had gone through this similar experience?
