You're not the only one Maybe you'll receive the same answer, file in the system, just wait, you are in the normal processing time. Good luck for all of us!
I am a Canadian Citizen and I'm sponsoring my wife who is applying from China.
I sent in my application at the end of July and it was received by Mississauga office by July 31, 2018. I am still waiting for AOR.
Reading through this thread, it seems like the procedure that you guys are describing are a bit different from what my immigration lawyer is telling me.
Here is the procedure that my lawyer is telling me.
Acknowledgement of receipt from CPC- Mississauga > sponsor’s approval > application transferred to Hong Kong for second stage processing > acknowledgement of receipt from Hong Kong > request for updated Schedule A and Additional Family Information > request for medical exam > interview required when necessary > application approved and submit original passport to VAC-Beijing for visa issuance
So I'm just wondering if the procedure from China is a bit different than the procedures from other countries. Thanks in advance.
You are not alone. Our application was received on July 24 and we haven't heard anything since. I was also able to talk to someone this week for the second time. She said to wait. I am not sure what happened with July applications and how immigration decided to handle the change of processing centers, from Mississauga to Sydney, but it appears that once they issue the AOR things start moving pretty quick, so let's hope that this is just a delay to begin the process, but that overall it takes 12 months or less
Congrats to those getting their AORs. I’m a july 25th applicant. I’ve been waiting soo long it pretty much became normal to expect nothing ahaha. Oh well here’s to hoping!
Hello All,
I am Canadian living in Abu Dhabi, sponsoring my wife. we both live in Abu Dhabi at the moment.
As per DHL delivery report, the processing center received my file on July 6 2018.
I am still waiting on a status email regarding our file. Still nothing from their side. I have checked all my emails but nothing yet.
as of today, we have been waiting almost 3.5 months and no reply.
hi
me and my wife studied together.it dates back to 2003 when we went to the same university. we got married in december 2017. we do have some contact proof for all these years and met too whenever i went back home ( i have been working overseas all along) but pre wedding no pictures proof. pictures of wedding events and honeymoon etc are there. should i write some explanation stating that there are no pictures of us before we got married?
HI! My husband and I exact same situation! Met in 04 got married in 13 after not seeing each other since 08! We didn't have a traditional wedding. We just went to Egypt and did the paperwork. We're still planning to have an official ceremony in Canada with our friends and family. They didn't seem to have any problems with it
I never got any email or letter to tell me anything about file transfers.
We applied on 20 July.
Got AOR on 30 Sep,
medical request 2 Oct,
SA 4 Oct. (did the medicals and passed it on 25 Oct)
***what is AOR2? not sure if we got that or not, either***
On a whim I checked the online account and saw the "invitation to pre-arrival services" letter in the messages section.
This is why I was asking as to what is going on, since it seems we are missing some "steps" and correspondence.

Congrats. Thanks for the explanation . For me they sent a file transfer letter in a regular mail (oct 9) and I have submitted my application on July 16th.
Hopefully even I will get the Passport request email soon.
