Hello everyone, My husband and I came to Canada on a visitor visa and applied for H&C by consultation with a lawyer on hardship in our country. After 6 months, we applied for a visa extension and then received a letter from the Edmonton Immigration Service stated that your visa was approved for another 6 months. And then you must leave Canada, what if we don't get a response from the Immigration Service within another six months? And do you think there is any chances for us to get PR? We didn’t want to be refuge and now we are stayed in Canada 9 month without any job and study.just waiting...
Very hard to comment when you don’t what reasons. If you can’t get extension you need to return home and wait for the results of H&C. unless you were being persecuted and feared for your life in your home country you didn’t qualify for asylum and made the right decision by not applying.

H&C is unlikely to be approved just based on hardship in your country if you simply came here as visitors. Did you have any other grounds for claiming H&C?
Note that the H&C process seems to be taking 2-3 years these days. So you have a while to wait yet before you have an answer. You'll be able to apply for work permits once you have first stage approval. However this may take two years so you should be prepared to live here that long without the ability to work or attend school.
Then could we return to Canada? It doesnt seem.our lawyer told us H&C is for those one who can handle theirselves economically and came to Canada legally. We had job in our country that we resigned . So you think we made a mistake? And what should we do? Thanks in advance.
Our community is being so bad these days and we couldn't be improved any more, we want to build our future here. And we couldn't applied with other field such as student permit and skill worker so the lawyer told us H&C is suitable for you.we wish to remain here
H&C isn't a program to be used to circumvent the other programs in place to immigrate . Did you investigate the programs in place to immigrate prior to resigning your job ? As mentioned, economic hardship in your country isn't a reason for H&C . Did you make a mistake ? Only time will tell
Wishing to stay here, and being able to stay here are two totally different things
Your lawyer was wrong
No we didn't have economical problem, we had all the thing in our country exept peace.we wanted to improve and we couldn't. Canada can provide it for us. Also while we are waiting , we applied for work permit too.

Sure - you can apply to extend your visitor visas. However this doesn't help you to get a work permit. It's quite possible you are still more than a year away from first stage approval. So hopefully you brought enough savings to survive without working for that long.
