Did he apply using consultant? You guys can meet this friend of yours in person, ask him to log in to GC account and verify if it is true? If you know this guy, I don't think it'll be too much to ask him to do that.
So one of my friends from Pakistan got his AIP on 14 August and received refusal today 31 August. How can it be possible and one of the reasons was purpose of visit which is checked in eligibility stage so what the heck is going on IRCC gone nuts.
Complete application medical passed, biometrics done..
Applied for masters program at Windsor uni under sds.
Refusal https://ibb.co/TkccsL9
AIP https://ibb.co/xFz1g8M
Maybe your friend doctored the AIP image.

It's pretty basic for us to make sure the fonts are consistent when creating an ad.
Your friend might have used the same font but his name font is BOLD while other fonts ain't BOLD. Maybe an amateur sent his AIP, only then it's real.

The name on AIP is always BOLD bro. Font size is not a thing here. When u signed application to submit, the name u signed will be referenced by IRCC whenever they send new documents to you. You can capitalize ur name or don't when signing it.
Okay. Order GCMS notes immediately. Something is not adding up. There is a chance that he (un)intentionally did something that led to denial at Stage-2.

Me and most ppl here don't have AIP. The only way to confirm is by getting more proofs.
The rejection letter doesn't have name in BOLD fonts. That led me to doubt.

Rejection letter does not have BOLD fonts bro. But the font size will be the same to AIP you are receiving. I can literally show u my AIP if u want to.
Could this be an overlap in processing of application? Both Edmonton and Abu dhabi working in the same applicant and given different result? Abu dhabi is not issuing AIP recently but i saw few rejection. Does this indicate that Abu dhabi is planning to issue full approval and refusals? My guess is a wild as yours.

Only GCMS notes can prove this. It seems like an overlap of decisions. Applicant applied in March, Abu Dhabi might have had a decision for this application before he received AIP from Edmonton (application likely re assigned from Abu Dhabi to a CPC in Canada) which led to AIP. The other reason is, since CPC Edmonton can't verify the authenticity of the documents, they issued AIP based on the available evidence which Abu Dhabi overturned after verifying the documents. Your background & criminality could effect Stage-2 approval.
