Hi Everyone
Could anyone shed some light with regards to jobs available in the offshore sector specially DPO jobs or other related shore jobs.
Also are there any universities offering shipping related courses which might help us in securing a decent shore job
I succeeded through the EE program. I had applied back in 2019 though, when the cut offs was much lower than now. I'd suggest you give your IELTS and collect your transcript for WES first. If by chance you get ITA, you can apply by yourself. There wouldn't be any need for an agent.

If possible avoid any agency, as they will further complicate things, most of them donot understand the profession plus if you want to apply under EE, you have all information online. If you do not make enough points due to age or education etc, study visa is the route. There are hardly any shipping related courses in Canada which will give you study visa. The closest which comes to mind is logistics or supply chain management courses.

My Bro!!! Humbly request you to kindly put your number registered on the telegram app here, so that I could add you. Many unwanted people have been spamming on the group so we would want to avoid adding starngers. Once you've been added to the group, youu can delete your number on this thread. Hope you don't mind. thanks.

Title: Process for Obtaining Transport Canada CoC After PR – UK OOW CoC Holder
Question:
Hello everyone,
I recently obtained permanent residency (PR) in Canada and I’m looking to get my Certificate of Competency (CoC) from Transport Canada through the equivalency process. My background:
I hold a UK MCA Second Mate CoC (OOW Unlimited).
I have 18 months of sea time as an OOW on vessels over 500 GT.
I plan to do at least one more 6-month contract before applying for the Chief Mate exam.
I understand that I have to apply through the Direct Examination Route (Section 119 of the Marine Personnel Regulations), but I have a few specific questions:
What is the exact process after getting PR? Where do I apply, and how long does the equivalency assessment take?
Do I need to reappear for the full OOW exams, or will Transport Canada accept my UK license with some exemptions?
Are UK MCA courses like GMDSS, ECDIS, and SEN accepted by Transport Canada, or will I need to redo them?
Once I get Transport Canada’s Watchkeeping Mate CoC (OOW equivalent), what is the process to sit for the Chief Mate exams?
What kind of documentation is needed to prove my sea service and management-level duties for the Chief Mate exam?
I’d appreciate any advice from those who have gone through this process or have insights on Transport Canada’s requirements.
