Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Hey, I did send mine to Gatineau and delivery showed Ottawa - that's why I panicked. It's just 9 kilometers away over the bridge. All is good... and I already got my citizenship certificate back yesterday.

It should be Gatineau for everyone sending to the courier address. Depends on delivery person I guess, they forget they are in Quebec since it's a short drive.

Mine was mis-scanned for sure. The last update before delivery was in Mississauga says item in transit - then 5 days later it just says out for delivery in Gatineau.. oh well.. nothing much I can do at the moment. It’s been 15 days since I sent it away and 8 days since it delivered I’ve heard nothing so far.

My wife got a call to confirm some application details. I think I will call on Friday morning for tracking number.

Looks like the processing officer had access to citizenship file and wanted to confirm name change history. I forgot to mention name change in passport application. As there was a name change mentioned in citizenship application, officer wanted to confirm it again. I thought we were out of woods of IRCC....lol

Those who don't know - Passport Program is now a division under IRCC (until the mass citizenship fraud 8-10 years ago, Passport program was independent department).

Don't panic, it's a different province but literally a 5 minute drive. It probably depends on which local depot is scanning it as arrived.

Mine was delivered on 14th and I didn't hear anything until my card was charged on the 28th. I just kept checking my online banking to see if it was charged. You'll hear soon!

Short answer: You are good. Don't worry.

Long answer:

I think it is to do with delivery team updating delivery address in the system. Mine showed delivery to Ottawa.

Before covid I was lucky to visit Ottawa/Gatineau and it is just a bridge the separates Ontario from Quebec.

Congratulations @Lex2019 .

I just spoke and was told that pasaport application is being examined, hopefully by Friday passports will be mailed out. I'd call later Friday for the update.

Seems like most people have their applications delivered to Ottawa. I know Gatineau is just across the river but still odd that mine was delivered to Gatineau... instead of Ottawa like most people are reporting.

Will give them a call tomorrow most likely. No CC charged so far.

Update from me: I can't wait till tomorrow so I just called - applications are currently under examination and it was received on May 25th and opened on May 26th. The agent told me to expect to receive the earliest on June 23.

And the wait resumes....

Interesting fact: Passport Canada is managed by IRCC :/
