Wait this is very weird. Since when was having a travel plan a prerequisite for obtaining a passport?
I have the exact same answer when i called yesterday. They said you have to wait more and they cannot give you the estimate

15 min past the hour seems to work each time for me in BC. I've called 3 times and it was at 15 min past that the lines opened up to join the queue each time.

Anyone still waiting from March?
Yes I am application received on March 3rd, I requested to transfer my file 2 weeks ago and they did it and I received email confirmation of file transfer to local office and mentioned you will receive passport before August 11, and they said wait for the call. Today is 10th August untill now no call no response.

Call the number again...
Chances are the transfer request has not been accepted.

Also check the email they sent you, I am sure it says "This is a confirmation that a File Transfer Request has been submitted"

Anyone still waiting from March?
I am April 1st, but sent my app in March. Actually called them on Monday, they said it might come before August 25th lol but I do not believe in it haha
Actually really complained this time, said I am going to send complaints to the government and my MP. Also the last 3 times, the agent who answered the phone was the same girl and she told me not to call that often :p

Hi guys, just received my passport by Xpress Post.
PP Application sent by mail - May 1,2022
PP application received - May 2, 2022

CC charged - June 14, 2022
Passport and Citizenship certificate received: August 10, 2022.

My partner applied with me and received everything too. Got 2 envelopes together.

This is my 1st passport, no travel date, never contacted them, just patiently waited and Guarantor was never called.

I am so happy!!! :D

Did you receive your First Passport and the Citizenship Certificate in TWO separate envelops?

Do you mind if I ask whether you needed to book a ticket for them to transfer? We tried to ask them to transfer and they refused point blank without a ticket

It's a bit of a mystery to me on that front. Here is how it went:

When I called to do the transfer, the lady on the phone said that after the transfer request is made that IF they accept the transfer over the next 2 weeks, they would call me and that I would have to fax them (who still uses fax?!?!?!) my proof of travel. And if I didn't get a call (meaning that they didn't accept the transfer yet) then I should go down to the office 2 days prior to my travel date, bring my proof of travel, and wait in line to have them process a 48 hour rush passport. I wouldn't need to re-apply or anything becasue they had all of my applications fully in the system.

But then I got the call this past Tuesday from the passport office, and all they said to me was that it would be ready for pickup next Tuesday after 1:00 pm. They told me just to go to the front of the line and tell security that I am there to pickup the passports and they would let me in without having to wait in line with the people there to apply. They didn't ask me at all to provide my proof of travel (either now, or when I go next week). But I will be taking my proof of travel with me just in case they ask to see it when I pickup. Although I don't think they will ask to see it when I arrive because at that point, they're already completed and printed the passports.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

edit: One thing you can do to cover your bases is to book a cheap hotel room in the States somewhere that has free 24 hour cancellation. Book a room for a date so you have proof of travel (if you need it) and then cancel the booking.

Wait times are now down to 30 minutes at few passport offices. Improvements are reflecting on the ground which is a good sign finally...
