Here is a question from a friend of mine. I offered to post her question here and hope someone can shed some light on it. She has sponsored her orphaned niece, it's been a awhile that the case is in process, when she follows up with the Visa office for update for the past few months she is being told that Backgroung checks are being conducted at this time. Her niece is only 12 yrs old, do they do background checks on children???
It depends on the country, the quality of the documents. If the death certificates for the parents were issued at the time of death or shortly after and can be verified then it should be fairly rapid. If they were issued a long time after death, then it will be a lengthy process verifying their authenticity depending on the country. Also the quality of the documents to show the child is actually the niece.
