You cannot connect or link your citizenship application to CIC account (Where you applied for PR or any Canada visitor visa).
To track or check status of citizenship application use below two methods.

Old Tracking system (Fill in your personal details as requested)
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/introduction.do?app=ecas

New Tracking system (You have to register first with application number and other personal information)
https://cst-ssc.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/login

Thanks lot. Unfortunately not, I’d tried to use both method and it’s not working. The error code is either wrong UCI number or wrong Application number. I don’t know what’s going on.

For me both are working. I am a Paper (Family) applicant.
Heard that Old tracking may not work for Online applicants, but I am not sure though.

Not right away after getting the AOR. Been trying to register last night as soon as I found out about the AOR email from IRCC. I kept getting an error even with correct UCI and App No. details. Just few minutes ago, prior to giving you this response, I tried the same registration process and voila, I'm in! Of course, my application status are all still "In Progress" So my advice is to give it maybe 12 hours or so (from receipt of AOR) to register and be able to check the status of your application.

The new tracker is like more detailed (In terms of what is being processed, like Language check, Criminality, Prohibition, Physical Presence etc) . Old tracker simply says in progress and then finally decision made or refused.

Also, new tracker provides info on when your file has been opened by an officer (Last updated by date gets changed).
This will provide you an indication that something is going to happen in coming days.

Since new tracker is more detailed
Lets say if your criminality and prohibition is done that means you wont get finger print request.
Lets say if your test status is done that means you wont get an interview.

Apart from this I don't see big change. But I am also new by the way.

I did send a copy of my driver's licence and health card.
