Good Afternoon guys, I have a question. Can a protected person In canada apply for urgent processing of citizenship ,as his father from his home country is seriously ill. He is going to have a heart surgery he want to see his father. This person is holding Canadian Refugee travel document. According to Canadian immigration law He can not go back to his home country until he get his Canadian passport. Thanks.

Late 2020 (and at least one Jan 2021) non urgent applicants have started getting In process, so I am hopeful that we will see more progress soon



For the official word from IRCC, see the first link in my signature:

As of March 2, 2021 they are currently finalizing applications received between March 3 and 9, 2019. A note on that page says "In the past 3 months, the majority (80%) of the applications we’re finalizing were received during this period. "

However, as you can see from this forum, at least one March 2020 applicant (non urgent) has got a test invite, so it is possible that the progress is far beyond that timeline.

I think you need to send them an email or use the webform for an answer as your case is a bit specific. I hope your dad will get better soon.

My timings are almost the same as yours and I got the FP email yesterday. Surprisingly didn't get one for my wife or daughter.
