Try calling CIC (888-242-2100) and follow the instructions for citizenship to get someone on the phone. Then ask them if the medical requests are legit (because they did a systems update last week that broke myCIC and the phone attendant).
EDIT: They generally are ready to complete a case (or are nearing the stages to) when they ask for medicals. They grant a 30d window to do them, but you can request extension if you need more time.
In our case, from medical request to landing was about 6 weeks?
Assuming I can get ahold of a representative and the medical check request is legit....I will just wait for instructions to come in the mail? Since nothing is showing on myCIC? Also, how do you request an extension in the event that is needed for the medical check? Just trying to make sure I am prepared because I already made a mistake previously and ran out of status that couldn't be restored, so my OWP request was denied until I am granted first approval of permanent residency (at that time I was told I can reapply for work permit). Sound correct?

Yup. If I recall correctly, your OWP was returned originally, and was not filed in time, so you ended up out-of-status, right? If so, then you can apply for an OWP after you receive the "You are eligible to apply under the family class" (para-phrased very badly -- I cannot remember what it says exactly) email.
CIC will send you an IMM 1017 for you and your dependents. You have to wait for that. Usually it's sent via myCIC, but if that doesn't work, email would be the back up. To request an extension (try to avoid this!): https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx and just let them know you won't be able to complete the medical until xx date. Tell them a reasonable reason why (physician cannot book before then, etc). You can assume they will accept the excuse and just file the medical (they build in a buffer around the request anyway, for this very reason).
i just call my representative Today and told him that i got the DECISION MADE through my application number PERMANENT RESIDENT and STATUS.
then he called me and says, i got the interview Last June 6 2017 and i missed it!... he told me that there are some technical problem about the email, He cant Read the Letter.. and now my consultant told me that i need re-schedule and write a letter why i missed the interview!.... !!
You can file a complaint against your rep. The complaints are taken very seriously and the decision is also posted on the website http://iccrc-crcic.info/sample-page/
of course first contact CIC and take care of your own application before spending time on the complaint. But it will ensure someone else doesn't have to suffer through the same at the hands of that rep
The only good news today (for now) is that I passed my medical and that is updated in MyCIC. In ECAS there is no note that my medical is received lol. I'm ready for more good news today
So far, we only have her updated OHIP card, and her new SIN (they had some weirdo issue that required a mailed-in request for a new SIN -- I bet it's because we had a COPR and CIC-Kitch hadn't updated it as accepted yet). She is patiently waiting for the PR Card so she can plan her flight to Moscow...
Thanks Profiler! I didn't even make it to the waiting queue when going thru the permanent residence side. I am currently on hold with a wait time of 16 minutes. I've never been so happy to be on hold!
