I’m feeling so depressed right now because of this situation. I applied for my study permit (SP) and spousal open work permit (SOWP) around June 19, but there hasn’t been any update since then.
I’m devastated and feel like I should write to my Member of Parliament (MP) to see if that might help. I can’t even concentrate in class because this is constantly on my mind. I’ve called them multiple times, but they keep saying, “We are processing applications.”
It’s been more than 6 months , and I’m feeling completely overwhelmed.

I feel this too, but you are not alone. I applied for SP extensions June 20th for myself and my primary school child. And NOTHING since then. Makes it impossible to plan your life.
I applied for a new study permit before my current one expired, and I'm currently waiting for a decision from the IRCC. However, I need to start attending a new school for a different program by jan 06. When I contacted the IRCC, I was informed that I'm not allowed to resume classes at the new school until a decision has been made on my application. Specifically, I was told that I cannot start attending the new school with my current maintained status.
When I reached out to the school to request a deferment, I was told that the program is only available for the September intake. Furthermore, I was reminded that according to Canadian law, international students cannot stay out of status for more than 150 days. In this situation, I'm unsure of what to do, as deferring to September would put me at risk of exceeding the 150 day limit and losing my status. I would appreciate any guidance or advice on how to navigate this situation.
