I think that doesn't make any sense that the Due date for review pass 12 months. I believe that date is the date that they have to finish processing case.. Except they ask further documents and additional query for your case

My file is waiting for second review from Dec 2014. due date is june 2015 exactly one year from AOR. Any of you planning to give upfront medicals while waiting for second review?
I will suggest you to wait. For me, it took almost year and half to get the medical request after my case went for review. Medical is only valid for a year. Still choice is yours.

It really depends on where you are getting your upfront medicals done..
if you are in Canada and have time at your hands in terms of the work permit validity , then perhaps you should wait for the medical request. that way, atleast you would know that they are processing your application.
however if you are currently in India (assuming that based on your flag) you could go for upfront medicals because, obviously they are cheaper in India. so that way it wont hurt your pocket to get the medicals done in india. it should cost approximately 80 CAD or less to do that in india.
