Hello guys!!!

To all forum members. Did someone of you spend 6 months or more time in Canada or another country as a tourist? I'm interested to know, Am I the only person who was asked about fingerprints.

Thanks to all of you

Never 6 consecutive months or more as a tourist, but more than 6 months in total and more than 2 years in Canada on work permits. I was not asked for fingerprints (yet). In process since feb 5.

You're not the only one ! I had to get finger prints also, electronic ones. But if I remember correctly, Vienna asked you for them right? I submitted them with my application.

I sent with the application before 1 year and 3 months and also I did them electronic. They asked me to redo the fingerprints.

A fellow Dutchy! What's your timeline like if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah I guess they're only valid for 1 year

I don't have all the dates here, I can post them later:

Visa Office Vienna
Medicals done mid Oct 2012
Application sent end Oct 2012
SA received (1st stage) end Nov 2012
AOR received (2nd stage) Mid Dec 2012

I'm here on work permits, and have a long work permit now, but want to change jobs here in the summer. Would be nice to have PR before that.

Yes. I believe most of the people here have their status in Ecas change from application received to in process when they request your passport or additional documents. Which could take months! But don't take my word on it, everyone's process is different! ;)

I just hope now that some of the older applicant's processes are being finalized that they will be a little speedier with ours ! ;D

hmm quiet right.. but i also heard someone from this forum stating that it also happens Ecas doesnt change the status and ur application moves to next steps.. like. someone got the visa but ecas was showing INPROCESS status..

Oh for sure, it almost isn't even worth it checking Ecas. Some immigration officers will update it right along with your application but I guess some don't. So the best thing to do is check your email and junk email folders for anything from immigration, rather than checking Ecas every day. But that is my opinion ! ;D

Why do some people need to do fingerprints?

I believe if they have been in a country other then their country of residence for longer than 6 months, they require them to do finger prints.

Do you guys have biometric passports?
Normally there is the fingerprint info in the chip, so I guess they ought to have it in some database, related to the number of your passport, as well. But who knows how it works...

I'm a QSW applicant and I follow this thread to see if anything's up in Vienna. I tried looking for other QSW applicants on the other Vienna office thread, but no one replied. My file was received in Sydney in November 2012 and transferred to Vienna end of December, haven't heard anything since. Hoping to get the invitation for the medicals soon.
Good luck to everyone and I hope we all hear some good news soon! :)

I have biometric passport, however I assume that have this kind of passport means nothing.

Ok, thanks. I have been longer than 6 months in Canada, but haven't done the fingerprints (or they haven't request it yet).

And who has to do the fingerprints, the sponsor or sponsored person? I was assuming the sponsored person.

I never had to do fingerprints

My wife has been in Canada nearly two years on open work permits. We were never requested fingerprints
