Yes, thats what I was sure about. But I didn't know that Indian citizens do not require a transit visa for London and US.

Indian nationals do require a visa to transit through US.

How do I confirm that I am eligible for TWOV (Transit without Visa)status? and is there a document or a stamp that I need to acquire?
Or the airport authority is assured that I don't intend to leave the airport during the transit stop by just looking at my ticket and visitor visa?

To better address your answer please provide details like your nationality, country you would be transiting and the country of destination.

TWOV is an administrative concession that the airline and travel agency staff are able to determine using timatic, a resource published by IATA. Its not a document and is a privilege by virtue of the visa you maybe holding.
