I hate to say it, but this doesn't enthuse me towards Quebec at all. They're the only province that gets to evaluate a sponsor -- why the special treatment?
I would suspect that good advice would be for all prospective sponsors in Quebec to move to Ontario prior to filing. Once the PR is approved, you can move back.

Actually, the CSQ is pretty easy to get and doesn't really take that long. It doesn't add extra scrutiny at the visa post when it comes to assessment. And when it doesn't get LOST, it normally does add extra time either. But it's a cash grab for Quebec, IMHO. :

it has nothing to do with immigration quebec (except me in a way yes because of the csq)
most people that go through the process do not have all the problems me and my wife experienced. I am the 1 case that make the exception. Well let's put it that way if my memory is right from what i was told it's that it takes 5 (not sure) to 11 months after reception of the csq. Since all know here Buffalo did not receive (twice) aka they lost it the CSQ from Quebec well they "received it" by me and my wife end of november... so it makes maybe april if i understood right to october which is what immigration canada made it sounds like... they said to my MP representative to call in 3 months he said screw them i am calling back in a month...
anyway it's not all about Quebec, it's about Buffalo being heartless.. they could have put our case priority... oh and he was told by someone at immigration Canada they do not understand why it took so long to receive the CSQ and they are going to look what happened... i do not hold my breath
Right now i feel lost, confused and depressed.... oh well at least you cal all enjoy the story written in the Post Star

it was funny to be told at church by a lady, hey you are the people from the newspaper, on sunday when you actually didn't read the story yet

hahaha tell me about it
also it last a year only so imagine my wife csq expire in april so probably another 250$ up the drain... they should seriously make that tax deductible ;D

As a British Columbian (I'm the sponsor

), I can honestly say that at the next Separation Referendum, I will be
encouraging Quebecers to vote yes. If they don't succeed, I will definitely begin lobbying (as with many others from this half of the country) for the Federal Government to eliminate special treatment for Quebec, including declaring the Language Law(s) unconstitutional.
All I can say: without the West, this country would be in VERY bad shape. Probably not even considered a "developed nation".
If Quebec wants to break away from Canada, then let them all go back to France!
Didn't Canada give Quebec to the French, out of generosity and compassion, after they lost the war?
humm you do realize i am french Canadian and i start to take serious insults out of some comments here.
by the way Pharoh learn your history!... France gave New France to England when they lost the war, however when England took over they have been trying to assimilate the french canadians into the english cultures which is why it's been always a very delicate situation. Because we wanted (probably a tad less now) to keep our culture and language which the English were trying to eradicate.
But in my memory there was no way Canada wanted to give away Quebec back to France....
really people could we avoid it being a Quebec bashing topic... in respect for people like me that lives in Quebec and you know i think it's attitude like i just saw that make people want to separate from Canada... how about we try to get along for once

Dralon: no personal offense is intended.
Some corporate offense, perhaps -- I recognize that Quebec wants to maintain the culture, and that's fair, but to do it at the expense of the rest of the country is extremely, mmm... haughty. That's a good word.
As for my comment about the West -- I'd put the dividing line somewhere between the Alberta/Sask border and the Manitoba/Ontario border. For economic support, Ontario takes as much as any other eastern province!
ok just for fun we dump New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and PEI and keep the rest as-is ;D oh and who needs the cold territories too let's drop them
