It was a pretty slow process, but I'd rather do it through Sydney than anywhere. They made a few blunders with me, but were pretty easy to deal with in general.
Well done Midnightmav! How are you settling in? Hope it's all going smoothly for you.
Hey does anyone have any recommendations for shipping companies or advice for shipping personal effects/household contents by sea from Australia to Canada?

Hey Canadayogini - check out www.collectmyparcel.com they buy space from DHL and it is half the cost and DHL pick up your boxes from your house! I used them from the UK, but pretty sure they ship worldwide so it may be a step in the right direction!

Does anyone know what is the average time for Sydney to send out an AOR or for eCas to show as 'in process' once they've received all the paperwork? Getting nervous...
Wow...I'm starting to feel a little positive by reading these posts. We'll be sending our applications off to Sydney soon and the speed at which some of yours are being done is great!! Can anybody let me know how you've gone with the fingerprint checks and the time taken? I didn't realise I needed that done (thought it was the Post Office Police check thing) so only sent my fingerprints and application off two days ago. I guess that might be the hold up before putting our applications in.

Hi TracyS - Are you applying outland? Your application must be sent to Mississauga, Ontario and once they approve sponsorship they send it off to Sydney for you
oh..oops, yes I am applying outland and will send it to Ontario first...i think i was going a bit cross-eyed with reading all these posts when I sent that message. Thanks for that.
My fingerprint record check took about 6 weeks back in July 2010.
If you're in a rush, you can send your application before you receive your Australian record check back. We waited for my prints before sending ours but it ended up delaying everything by two months. In retrospect, I wish we'd just sent the app off without it because after all, the Sydney office will only process it after Mississauga approves the first stage and sends your package to them.
There are lots of posts here about people sending record checks separately and many say they just sent a letter explaining that the record check was in process.
Personally, I think it's better to have everything included from the start so the process can run without a hitch
thanks Jez for that information, I did read that some people have sent them in after the initial application but I'm like you, I want to have everything included but wow..6 weeks. I'm going to have to think about this..what to do..what to do...
I wish I knew as well. It's hard to say. I just had an update of 'in process' on eCas yesterday (dated 4th Feb) and the AOR was dated 20th December. The suspense is killing me! I have a new baby on arrival and if I can't get to Canada well before my due date I'll be 'stuck' here in Oz for another year or more, eek! Really tough to plan isn't it, during the waiting game...
@canadayogini
Im closely following your timeline. Congrats on your current "in process" status. Fingers crossed you get your PPR soon and are able to land in Canada.
Yay Jez!!! Bravo!! How did you find out, did they send an email, an eCas update or a (slooooow post) letter?
Just curious did they ask you to send it to Sydney or somewhere in Canada?
That's such awesome news, only took a couple of months hey, well done!
