I called the call center today and they said that it might take upto a year. They are trying to process within 6 months but I may have to wait till next year March or April. This is so disheartening.

So sorry to hear this, skar. Are you inland? If so, could you perhaps reach out to your local MP--whoever that may be after the recent elections?

I googled and got this: https://openparliament.ca/politicians/. You'll have to enter your zip code to find your member of parliment. If the person is still holding on to his/her seat following the elections, you can reach out to them right away. If there's been a change, I would suggest holding on for a few days until the new MP's tenure starts.
