Hello friends,
I have just landed in canada two days ago, the immigration officer issued me the study permit. It is not written in study permit about working in Canada as a part time.
It is written in my study permit,
1. Unless authorized, prohibited from engaging in employment in Canada.
I have seen a study permit of my friend, it is written in his permit that he may work in Canada for 20 hours.
If someone have knowledge about this then plz help me..
Waiting for your reply.
Thanks.

yup since ur application was before june 1st u have to get a letter from ur university and then apply for conformation of work letter to get ur SIN after which u can work.
read on this link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-offcampus.asp
I applied for my study permit on 15th May 2014 and received my TRV on 18th July 2014 .I am yet to enter Canada. So will I also not get the work permit ?

no body gets a work permit with their study permit ....if u have applied after june 1th then u dont have the restriction on ur study permit about working. if u have applied before june 1st u get the restriction on ur study permit for which u need to get a letter from CIC that says ur eligible to work immediately on ur study permit. once u get that letter u can apply for a SIN ...this process does not take much time i think roughly a month ....read the link i provided above
The only difference between people applied after 1st june and before 1st june is before one has to get cover letter from college while the later one don't have to.
But both have to apply for SIN no. to work off campus immediately
Am I correct mead??
That is not 100% accurate, I got my SIN# last week without the work authorization letter and my study permit was requested on may 28 2014. I had my enrollment letter because it was supposed to be required but the person who issued my sin# didn't ask for it, just my passport with my study permit on it.
I believe this is because despite the fact you are not allowed to work off campus, you can accept on campus employment. You should, however, get the work authorization letter before accepting any off campus job offer.
Hope this help.
