Study permit extension query, need serious advice.

I came to Canada for Sept intake with a study permit July 2017-July 2019 for doing a 2 year post graduate diploma in Robotics from Centennial college.
I couldn't complete the course for personal reasons and took Project Management for Sept 2018 in George brown college. My current course (Project Management)will be completed in April 2019.
Now my Visa will expire in July 2019, i.e. next year and I need to take another course in order to get 3 year work permit.
Should I go for May intake or Sept intake is my doubt. Will I face problems in getting a Visa extension or 3 year work permit if I go for Sept intake instead of May??
Any help would be really appreciated.
