Stuck in Security Screening - Citizenship applicants

Just adding my timeline:
Applied Nov29 2023, AOR DEC14 2023. Still waiting on SS. Last update I saw from a person said their SS was completed 18 months after their AOR.

I also monitor the "GCMS Security Screening" thread in the express entry group just to get an idea of progress (they have more people there sharing timelines), looks like they are also on average 16 - 18 months after AOR for security to complete.

16-18 months is a lot!!! It used to be 12-14 months . I don't think I can keep my sanity for that long. Oct 2023 AOR by the way, I see people from April 2023 still stuck in SS.

or there should be a specific update in the portal?

you should see " we have received your fingerprints results" updated on the tracker ; and BG completed would be next if you are not selected for Security Screening ; Call yourself LUCKY in that case

Hi, Thanks for your reply, i submitted my FP on August 1st and they received them on August 15 as per GCMS notes and same day background completed updated in the portal. Only thing pending for now is LPP from August 28th.

as per GCMS LPP not even started yet. do i still need to worry about Security Screening?

NO, Security Screening is part of Background check, when BG complete means you passed Security Screening

In my case Background still in progress after FP results received, bcoz I am stuck in SS since 1 year , everything else is complete

Did you travel in and out of Canada a lot ?
Was there any special circumstance on your application?
I am wondering if you have PR and completed 3 years in Canada, and working here, than what would be the reason for such a delay when there are some applications getting processed in 3-4 months

Nothing like that. Came here in 2017 and did travel twice after I got my PR to India that’s it. Been working here for almost 6 years now. Not sure what’s the cause of the delay

I'd say it's more like 18-22 months. I am at 17 months right now and still waiting. Some are waiting since Jan-March 2023.

I have the same simple background, very straight forward background but today is my 17 months since AOR. No update since March 2024
