Hi, I’m in the process of sponsoring my wife. She is in India and I’m in Canada.
In the document checklist they mention the following:
1 - proof of contact (max 10 pages)
2- proof of wedding (max 20 photos)
3- separate document providing brief description of the photos
4- document showing we are recognized as each others spouse (insurance docs)
5- documentary evidence of financial support
6- proof of past cohabitation
7- travel tickets to visit etc

I want to know how to upload these docs?
An option I can think is to put (1) under the “proof of relationship to sponsor”
And rest except (3)under “proof of relationship”. I will provide a cover letter explaining what’s in each pages (docs number 2 to 7 in above list)
And finally (3) under “other”

please provide your thoughts

these docs do not have a separate IMM number. They are all part of the document checklist IMM5533 and have to be uploaded separately

What they check in PA eligibility ? Do they reject in this ?

They check a number of things. Medical, security check, background check, whether the relationship is genuine, etc.

Yes, some applications are rejected at the PA eligibility stage.

MEdical is cleared, but , since Oct 30 2024 eligibility and background verification is showing as "In Progress" . Does it take that long time? PA is in India. Sponsor Citizen. Legally married with 16 yrs of relationship proof.

Yes, this stage normally takes several months.

It's been 10 months since we submitted. Then it got transferred to India vo and on October 24 Relationship to spouse was changed by them from SPOUSE to others . And eligibility n background check started on October few days after that. We did raise a web form stating the mistake they did. . Normal processing time is 10.months. we r thinking what to do.

There's really nothing you can do but wait. The 10 months is an estimated processing time.

We applied for my husband's outland PR application in JULY 2023. Got the AOR couple of months after, then applied for his visitor visa. Biometrics and medical were done in Oct 2023.
Visitor visa got approved in Nov 2023, he arrived in Canada as a visitor March 2024.
The application is still in progress. On 10th September 2024 they requested proof of cohabitation, more pictures of our traditional wedding ceremony. We provided them with proof and pictures on 12th September 2024.
Since then there has been no update at all. There was an update posted on the tracker stating:
  • Sept 13th 2024- We received the information you sent us. We’ll review it and let you know if we need any other information from you.
Nothing ever since. It is extremely frustrating waiting for an update, we just wanted to see if its normal for an application to take this LONG. Normal processing time is 8 months and we are well over 17 months now.

You should apply for GCMS and it charges some 35 cads and 1 month but you will know where it's stuck n complete details on ur application's whereabouts.

GCMS notes cost $5. If it costs more, you're not ordering through the ATIP (government) website and are essentially getting scammed.
