Good day everyone!

I need your advice regarding proof of citizenship application and spousal sponsorship. My husband is a naturalized canadian, we have kids born outside canada and we will be applying for proof of citizenship for the three of them this month. I was just wondering if we can apply for spousal sponsorship while their proof of citizenship is being processed? Would it be possible to apply for spousal sponsorship even if their citizenshiop certificate didn't arrive yet?

I have read somewhere in the sponsorship forms that you have to list your dependents but I can't put my kids there because they will already be citizens right?

You can apply for both at the same time, since they are completely different processes.

The children would be listed on the additional family information form, as they are not being sponsored.

It was awkward for me as my PR has taken so long that I found out I was pregnant right after I sent it but I advised them by email and when he was a couple months old they asked for his info ( birth cert, basically) I sent them a copy. When I got my COPR, he wasn't listed under 'dependents' so I got nervous. I never assume anything, not after all this mess. As it was I had to return it because of other errors. Is it because he's technically Canadian already so they don't need to have him sponsored? I filed for his citizenship yesterday. I reminded them in a letter with it so hopefully, I won't have issues but the CBSA officers never question us about his citizenship so when I process the landing it should, hopefully, not be an issue.

Your Canadian child is not supposed to be listed on the COPR.

That's what I thought. But they've screwed up a few times already. I don't trust any of it at this point.

Okay. So that means I don't have to submit the additional dependent form IMM0008 because they don't have to be sponsored?

Do I have to cite in the additional family information form that we are applying proof of citizenship for the three of them?

Also, about the additional family info, will all the people listed in that form required to undergo medical exams? For example: my kids, mother and brother?

No, just you need to to do medical. Your Canadian kids don't need to do a medical, and don't need to pay any fees as they are not dependents being sponsored. Just list them (and parents and siblings) on the "additional family info" form with the requested info, and that's it.
