I have no idea why they need. All of the info. is already on submitted forms. The good thing is it's easy enough to fill out and send back. And we now know our appl. is just about done. The email went to both of us. The letter states to send original docs. I guess the entry/exit cannot be email, etc.
* I sent Manila an email to see if emailed docs. are ok. Waiting for a reply.
I don't understand what you meant when you said "that's solved" for #2. Was there a gap in the info you gave at first that you are filling in now? Or are you just resending the same info?
IMM0008: Current country of residence / Residence address
My wife intends on staying with me as long as she is allowed in Canada while the application is going through. Is it okay to put Canada even though she is not technically allowed to "live" here, just visit?
Also, on date of last entry to Canada, she has been in and out of Canada on vacations a few times. I read another post while searching to list the very first date she came into Canada. Or is it really the last time entering Canada even for a short vacation away?

Where will she be living when her application is submitted? That will be her current country of residence.

Questions related to visitor visa extension:
For the online extension I need to attach the proof of medical exam. Unfortunately our receipt was sent with the original package and we cant track down any copies. How have others gone about this? Also, would this proof be needed if we were to do a border crossing?

Yeah, it's weird. For the online application it says you have to submit the proof of medical exam but the paper application doesn't require it. I had the same problem when I was trying to do it online so I called CIC. They said you don't need the proof of medical. I ended up doing the paper application, didn't submit a proof of medical and the extension was granted, so I think the bottom line is you don't need to submit the proof of medical.

Thanks Bart. I think ill just mail the app. For 'how long you plan to stay' did you keep it under 6 months and would that be 6 months from the expiry date of the original visa?

Yes, it really doesn't make much difference if you mail it or do it online. The only thing about the paper app is you should probably send it by some method (UPS, Fedex, Canada Post Priority) that provides proof of delivery, so you can prove it was submitted and you have implied status.
I indicated she planned to stay another year, asked for a one year extension and it was granted.
Thanks. Has anyone crossed over the US border and back with a visitor visa/TRP, while in the middle of the outland process. We are planning to drive from Calgary to Toronto via the US and were wondering about possible complications.

Once you leave Canada your visitor's visa and any extensions of it are automatically cancelled and you're back to square one. Is there any reason for using the U.S. route? Might be wiser to stay in Canada rather than taking a chance re-entering Canada.
Were looking to see family and friends in the states, while on our way to Toronto. We don't mind forfeiting the visa extension, with gas and other expenses it will be more costly driving through Canada. We just werent sure if there may be complications at the border, but it seems okay from what ive read.
