Question - if you have met the number of days presence in canada and you have submitted your citizenship application already, can you go out of the country for 1 month for a vacation? Has anyone tried doing that?

Yea you can. If you were eligible at time of filing and do not commit any crime while application is in process you are good to travel.
You will get a email to complete the test which they give a 21 day window. You can take the test from outside but they normally put your application on hold till you return.
So you can go on your well deserved vacation that won’t stop the application itself but if you are unlucky it might delay a bit.
yeah, guessing, so they were migrating to a newer platform / OS version or whatever, and either forgot to tell those registered that they will have to reset their PW or they just didn't know about this (that credentials data will transfer, passwords will not) till the cutover happened!! typical of IT migrations not assessed completely.
Normally the passwords are never migrated. So if they beefed up security ar backend they would need you to reset password as you see now the minimum requirement is 14 characters. Also there is a bit of UI change.
The message to reset password was promptly posted on the online tracker on Oct 13 morning. I think it was well considered just not communicated earlier in case there are implementation issues, they can then back out.
i feel it was a smooth implementation.
coming to the topic of application merging etc, it’s just baseless fear spreading
Ok my turn to ask some specific weird questions now.
To register for tracker did you use a hyphen in the UCI, the help article that is linked says it should be hyphenated but the email sent has the UCI without it.
I logged on to e-cas successfully (without hyphens) but still cannot login to create a tracker account.
Edit: I just need to be patient and wait until the app registers in the system. Another 24 hours or so maybe.

I got my AOR on Monday around midday but tracker reg also still doesn't work for me - i guess it's more towards the 72 hours range in some cases, will see tomorrow i guess.
