Hi, as I am gathering all of the documents for my husband’s citizenship application, I have 3 questions;
- When they ask for photocopies of biographical pages of passport and/or travel documents : Should I include a photocopy of the visa for Canada and the visa for USA that he has in his passport?
- In the physical presence calculator : should I include the days he went went cross-border shopping to the USA? He went in the morning and came back before the day finished. Is this counted as an ‘absence’ from Canada?
- If I want to send the application via Canada Post with tracking, which address should I use? The Box 7000 address or the 49 Dorchester address?

1. No. Only biographical pages are needed for passport. No stamps or visa copies needed.
2. Yes. Every trip outside Canada has to be included in your physical presence calculator.
3. You can use either but 49 dorchester will definitely get signed by individual receiving mail.

I am preparing my application to apply this month and wondering on how should I add my layover time into the physical calculator. I was away from Dec 28, 2019 till Jan 17, 2020 to my country or origin. On my way back to Canada, I had a 7 hr layover in London, UK and I had stepped out of the airport to meet a friend using my UK visitor visa. The physical calculator is not letting me add the layover time for Jan 16th, 2020 as this date is already covered under my Dec 28 - Jan 17 span. Should I just mention in the "Reason" box for Dec 28 - Jan 17 absence that I was out for 6 hrs in London, UK during my layover? Please advise!

You are correct. In the first two columns enter the date you left Canada and the date you entered Canada. Destination is the first country you visited after leaving Canada. In the reason section mention other countries you visited.
While preparing the physical presence calculator data, I have encountered a situation. I have stayed continuously for the last 3 years (Aug 2017 - Sep 2020). Prior to that I was in other country from 2014-Aug 2017. My 5 yr eligibility period is from Sep 2015-Sep 2020. How do I enter my initial absence? Sep 2015-Aug 2017....or 2014 - Aug 2017? Please advise.
