Everyone’s application passes at different timelines. Ours was super quick right up to medicals passed..... then the waiting begins. We finally got the letter last week that our app was being transferred to the VO and that was over a month after medicals passed.
Patience is key. Wishing you a speedy process.
I am new in this form and i need some advise, I submit my application on 10 september
application recieved in sydney 17 sep-2018
they sent me a letter for biometrics on jan 21-2019 i didnt recieve it somehow.
today i was checking my junk mails and i found that letter sitting in my junk e-mail.
and the deadline to have my biometrics done is feb 21-2019. which i missed.
today i called the biometric centre to ask them if i can still come to give my biometrics and they said no you have to call the visa centre and they will give u info.
We have just received and completed the medical request. It's with the local VO, and my understanding is that we'll either go to the background check stage now or my wife's passport is requested. She now no longer has six month validity on her passport (just a bit less than this now).
My question is whether this is something they worry about at the passport request stage? I'm concerned about doing anything that might extend the process. If we can pass the passport request stage, I wonder if we can then move over whatever is included in the passport to the new passport (confirmation of permanent residency?). If so, that might save a bit of headache. My wife can do that while we're making travel arrangements for her trip to Canada.
Or is it not a big deal and they can just update the info without it slowing down the process? After this time, looking for the quickest possible path to the end!

Hi, am sorry I can't give you an answer. Hopefully soon for all of us. Btw, I also completed my Medical check up on March 1st 2019, and the Clinic has sent the Information sheet to my email at the same day, since that I've been checking my Gc Key and didn't find any info updated that CIC received the MCU result, 'your action is required' is still there. how about you?
My timeline;
App received : September 27th
AOR 1 : January 4th
SA : January 22nd
AOR2 from SGVO : February 4th
Medical Requested : February 27th
Medical completed : March 1

If you passport expires in less than 6 months renew your passport and update the new passport number with IRCC. They may ask for scanned copies of your new passport. It is not a good idea to send your old passport with less than six months validity on it.

Thank you! I have read many different takes on this -- six months validity is only required by some airlines/countries; it is mandatory to have six months, etc -- and haven't seen anything from the Canadian government on this point, particularly... Anyway, better safe and getting a new passport does not take much time.

I have a very similar timeline to you both. We were told by the clinic that it would take three days for them to send the information to the VO, and that we should be seeing confirmation of that "soon" (they didn't specify how long). We'll see. From what I've seen, although individual experiences vary widely, the most common route seems to be a request for the passport not too long after medical results are provided. I guess that is only if they decide not to do a background check. Good luck to you both!
Yes, same here. I wonder if they're just basing that on the generic 12 months processing time they give all applications. In that case, I do not see much added benefit to having that progress bar.
