Hi, my husband is sponsoring me and it started off moving quickly in March we became bogged down in document requests about a dependant I don’t have so had to prove he wasn’t my dependant then send a letter asking for his removal from my application. Anyway today I saw that they are reviewing eligibility. I’m looking for input about how quickly or slowly things moved for others once you got to this point. Thanks.

My timeline so far:

Sept 7, 2018 application received
Oct 3, 2019 AOR
Nov 1,2018 Ecas application in progress
Nov 23,2018. Request medical
Dec 5, 2018 medical done
Jan 9, 2019. Medical passed
March 21, 2019. Request for medical and docs for dependant
April 16, 2019. Ircc received documents showing he is not a dependant
May 21, 2019. Ircc received formal request to remove dependant
June 14, 2019. Eligibility being reviewed /background check in progress/ dependant removed

If there’s Decision Made and you haven’t received any letter of fairness, so it was approved. Since it was on sponsor’s side, you/your sponsor was approved to be a sponsor. I received SA two or three days after AIP, so you might also receive it soon.
Yeah, I have the impression that Quebec applications are taking longer than other provinces.
Would you mind sharing your timeline?
Today my husband (sponsored person) received an email with a letter saying:
"This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class. It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met."

Is this letter saying I was approved to be a sponsor? The expression they use is not very clear to me...
Btw, I don't know what SA and AIP stand for. Can you help me understand?

My timeline:
Sep 24, Application received
Oct 18, AOR
Nov 12, CSQ received
Nov 29, Medical exam request
Dec 12, Medical exam passed
Jan 11, OWP approved
June 10, PR application status (ecas) - In Process: "We started processing application on June 10, 2019"
June 13, Sponsorship Application Status (ecas) - DM
June 13, Review of eligibility (my account) changed to "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements"
June 14, Letter received

I'd appreciate if you could explain what are the steps from now :)

Thank you!

It means they have decided that your husband is eligible to apply for permanent residence

SA means Sponsor approval, AIP means Approval in principle and refers to the principal applicant. What your husband has received is AIP. The next steps after that are decision made on the applicant's side once background checks are complete. This step can take a while. Then DM letter and landing letter. For Quebec expect the full 12 months of processing, even 13. Less if you get lucky.

This is AIP (Approval in principle). It means he meets the requirements to apply for PR. They are still doing his background check, and it might be the only thing that’s left. Also, with AIP, your husband can apply for assurance maladie (the Québec health insurance). He has to go to RAMQ with this document, his work permit, passport and proofs of address, and 11$ (for the picture they will take there).

The next step is only wait for Decision Made on PR’s side and the landing letter. Basically, from now you won’t have any problem, if they don’t find any issue on his background check.

SA stands for Sponsor Approval, but not everyone gets it. But if you have Decision Made on sponsor’s side it means you’re approved.

Good luck! And congrats on the AIP! :)

Hey so you haven’t received DM?
No, they skipped, AIP, and DM and went straight from, we are reviewing your eligibility, to sending me an email for the landing appointment within 5 days.
So far no paper mail either. I did discover that while Service Ontario will allow you to sign up for OHIP with your AIP they will not use your landing appointment letter. I was told to come back after my appointment.

I got an email today saying

"Hello,
We are pleased to inform you that you, your spouse and dependants can now receive free
pre-arrival services funded by the Government of Canada. These services are available
before you arrive and are meant to better prepare you for life in Canada."

The last update we got was on April 25th when my other half got an email saying she met the requirements to sponsor me. Online it still shows processing for my part with no updates since saying they received my medical back in november... I take it as a good sign this email came?

I just find it odd that I'm applying from inland and that my "spouse" is Canadian so the wording is strange

It is a good sign.

May I ask from which province you are applying?
