Hey. My course is starting on 1st May 2023 but my medical expiry date is 31st March 2023.
I am confused if I should arrive in the last week of March or retake medical exam. If I arrive in the last week of March, which will be almost 35 days before my classes start, can I face any problems during immigration because I heard they only allow you 28 days prior to classes.
If I go for medical retake, do I need any letter from IRCC? And how long will they take to update it in my application after submitting the new medical sheet through a webform?

Thank you in advance.

Also, in my LOI, the medical expiry date is 31st March 2023, so will they issue me another LOI with updated medical expiry date?

Retake your Medical, and I did the same this year.

Approved for 2021
defer admission to 2022
Medical expired June 29, 2022
retake and submit medical May 2022
Landed August 2022

Thanks for your reply. Do we need any document from IRCC to retake medicals before its expiry? And how long it took them to add the new medical in your application?

You are retaking it after your visa, to make your safe and uninterrupted landing. So you dont need IRCC LETTER. It will be upfront kinda medical exam and we all know the IME sends the results to IRCC within a week its done, online.
Its just your medicals must be valid when you land.

I called IOM and they said I can only take upfront medical once, and they won't allow me retake medical unless I have IRCC instruction letter. Can I raise a webform and ask VO to send me Instruction Letter before my last medical expiry date?

I suggest you not to request medical instruction letter but to seek their opinion regarding that ? And re appear once ur previous expired.

Does IRCC send Intruction Letter the day medical expires? And how long they take to update it in applicant's application?

Well even if you travel in the last week of march which is 35 days before that, i believe thats okay.
They resend it to those whose application is under processing however yours in already processed.
Based on the current timelines it takes about 3 weeks to a month to update in GCkey

I posted here and also consulted a few friends, majority of them suggested me to retake medical and travel within 28 days of the classes. I have now changed my flight to April. The only option I have is to retake medical now :(

U dont need to wait for it to be updated on ur gc key. Once you are done with it you keep that signed and stamped sheet with you.
28 days is a suggested time frame. Another week wouldnt be affecting it much. But its okay re appear and fly. InshaAllah you will do fine.

What if my counterfoil gets invalid after my medical expires? I have seen this happened with some applicants on this forum. I will still be able to travel with medical sheet?

whenever counterfoil gets invalid there is a notification of that. Plus sheet can be scanned as it had bar code. Also, the IOM usually sends the results within a week u appeared for screening
